Little floatingheart is an aquatic native plant with small heart-shaped leaves that float on the water surface. It produces delicate white or yellow flowers from July through September and requires a pond, water garden, or consistently wet soil to thrive.

In an HOA neighborhood

Little Floatingheart takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: moderate. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Requires water feature or pond installation
  • Not suitable for typical lawn landscaping
  • May be viewed as unconventional for front yard use

Wildlife value

The summer blooms attract bees and flies for pollination. As an aquatic plant, it also provides habitat for pond wildlife and helps oxygenate water features.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
