Tall fleabane is an annual wildflower that grows up to 4 feet tall with small white or pale pink daisy-like flowers that bloom in late summer. It readily self-seeds and can spread naturally throughout garden areas. This plant thrives in full sun with minimal water needs.
In an HOA neighborhood
Tall Fleabane takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.
Works well in: backyard only.
- Has weedy appearance year-round
- Self-seeds aggressively
- Considered invasive weed by many
Wildlife value
The late summer blooms provide nectar for bees, butterflies, and beetles when many other flowers have finished for the season. Seeds also attract small birds and provide food for wildlife through fall and winter.
Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
