Branched lagophylla is a small annual wildflower that forms compact, branching plants with tiny yellow blooms from May through July. This low-growing native thrives in full sun with minimal water. As an annual, it completes its life cycle in one growing season and may self-seed under favorable conditions.

In an HOA neighborhood

Branched Lagophylla takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very small stature may appear weedy or insignificant
  • Annual lifecycle creates gaps when plants die back
  • Informal wildflower appearance doesn't match typical HOA aesthetics

Wildlife value

This native wildflower attracts bees and beetles during its spring and early summer blooming period. Its small flowers provide nectar for smaller pollinators that are important for local ecosystem health.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
