EPA Level I Region
Marine West Coast Forest
Marine West Coast Forest is the wet coastal strip running from northern California up through the Willamette Valley and Puget Sound. Winters are mild and rainy, summers are cool and surprisingly dry, and conifers dominate. Natives like salal, red flowering currant, and sword fern thrive in the shade and moisture that frustrate plants brought in from drier parts of the West.
Ecoregions inside it: 3. Native range is set at that finer level, so start there rather than here.
