Woolly ragwort is a low-growing native wildflower that produces cheerful yellow daisy-like blooms from April through June. This compact perennial forms neat clumps with soft, fuzzy leaves and thrives in partial sun with moderate watering needs.

In an HOA neighborhood

Woolly Ragwort takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Looks weedy and unkempt when dormant in winter
  • Small wildflower appearance may not meet formal landscape standards
  • Spreads in informal patches rather than defined borders

Wildlife value

The bright yellow flowers attract a variety of pollinators including native bees, butterflies, and beetles during its extended spring blooming period.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
