Arabis perennans is a low-growing native perennial that forms compact clumps with small white or pale pink flowers in spring and early summer. This rock cress species stays quite narrow and works well as a groundcover or in rock gardens where it won't spread aggressively.

In an HOA neighborhood

Perennial Rockcress is an HOA-friendly choice. Maintenance level: low. Tidiness: 3 out of 5.

Works well in: foundation, mid zone, backyard only.

  • Very small size may appear insignificant in larger landscapes
  • Unknown winter appearance could be problematic

Wildlife value

The spring blooms provide nectar for native bees and beneficial beetles during early season when few other flowers are available.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
