In an HOA neighborhood

Showy Goldeneye is an HOA-friendly choice. Maintenance level: low. Tidiness: 3 out of 5.

Works well in: mid zone, foundation, backyard only.

  • Can look weedy when dormant
  • May spread more than expected

Wildlife value

The long blooming period provides nectar for bees and butterflies throughout the growing season. Seeds also attract finches and other small birds in fall.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
