Annual agoseris is a low-growing wildflower that produces bright yellow dandelion-like blooms from spring through summer. This native forb forms compact rosettes of leaves with flowers held on short stems, thriving in sunny locations with minimal water once established.

In an HOA neighborhood

Annual Agoseris takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Strongly resembles dandelions which many consider weeds
  • Annual nature means gaps when plants don't return
  • Can appear unkempt as flowers fade and go to seed

Wildlife value

The cheerful yellow flowers attract native bees and butterflies throughout the long blooming season. As an annual, it provides consistent nectar sources from April through July.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
