Cut-leaf anemone is a delicate native wildflower with finely divided, lacy foliage and white or pale pink flowers that bloom through summer. This compact perennial forms neat clumps and goes dormant in winter, making it suitable for naturalized areas and mixed borders.

In an HOA neighborhood

Cut-leaf Anemone takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Appears too wild and informal for typical HOA standards
  • Completely disappears in winter leaving bare spots
  • Small delicate flowers may not provide expected garden impact

Wildlife value

The flowers attract native bees and beetles during the summer blooming period. Seeds provide food for small birds and wildlife.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
