Sticky cinquefoil is a native perennial with attractive white to cream flowers that bloom throughout summer. This drought-tolerant plant forms compact clumps with palmate leaves and grows well in sunny, dry conditions.

In an HOA neighborhood

Douglas' Drymocallis takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Disappears completely in winter leaving bare spots
  • Can appear weedy or unkempt to traditional gardeners
  • Wild appearance doesn't match typical landscape expectations

Wildlife value

The summer blooms attract native bees and beetles, providing nectar and pollen during peak growing season. The plant supports local pollinator populations while requiring minimal water once established.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
