Pitcher's stitchwort is a delicate annual wildflower that forms small, compact mounds of narrow leaves topped with tiny white star-shaped flowers. This diminutive prairie native blooms from May through July and thrives in sunny, dry conditions with minimal care.

In an HOA neighborhood

Pitcher's Stitchwort takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very small size makes it appear sparse in formal settings
  • Annual nature means gaps when plants don't return
  • Delicate appearance may look like weeds to some

Wildlife value

The small white flowers attract native bees and beetles during the spring and early summer blooming period.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
