Western fleabane is a compact native perennial that produces small daisy-like flowers from May through August. This low-growing wildflower forms neat clumps and tolerates drought well once established.

In an HOA neighborhood

Western Fleabane takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Small wildflower appearance may be considered weedy
  • Unknown dormant season appearance creates uncertainty
  • Name includes 'fleabane' which sounds undesirable

Wildlife value

The abundant small flowers attract various bees and butterflies throughout the long blooming season. Its extended bloom period provides consistent nectar from late spring through summer.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
