Golden-club is an aquatic perennial that produces distinctive golden-yellow flower spikes in spring. This water-loving plant forms clumps of broad, blue-green leaves and requires consistently wet soil or shallow water to thrive.

In an HOA neighborhood

Golden-club takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Requires wetland conditions unsuitable for typical landscaping
  • Unusual appearance may seem out of place in residential settings
  • Dies back completely in winter leaving bare areas

Wildlife value

The unusual flowers attract flies and beetles for pollination. Seeds provide food for waterfowl and other wildlife in aquatic habitats.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
