Fremont's goosefoot is a compact annual wildflower with small, triangular leaves and inconspicuous flower clusters. This drought-tolerant plant thrives in full sun and poor soils, blooming from July through September. It typically reaches 6-24 inches tall with a modest spread.

In an HOA neighborhood

Fremont'S Goosefoot takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Looks very weedy and informal
  • May be mistaken for unwanted volunteer plants
  • Annual nature creates gaps in landscaping

Wildlife value

The small flowers attract bees and beetles during the summer blooming period. Seeds provide food for birds and small wildlife in fall.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
