Texas star is a compact annual wildflower that produces bright pink, star-shaped blooms throughout the summer months. This prairie native reaches 1-2 feet tall with a neat, upright growth habit and requires full sun with moderate watering.

In an HOA neighborhood

Texas Star takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: moderate. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Annual lifespan creates gaps in plantings
  • Wildflower appearance may seem too informal

Wildlife value

The showy pink flowers attract bees and butterflies during the long summer blooming period from June through August.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
