Aureolaria pedicularia is a native wildflower that produces bright yellow tubular blooms from summer through early fall. This semi-parasitic plant grows 1-3 feet tall and forms loose colonies in partially shaded areas with medium moisture.

In an HOA neighborhood

Annual False Foxglove takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Annual nature creates gaps in plantings
  • Wild appearance lacks structure
  • May be viewed as weedy by neighbors

Wildlife value

The yellow flowers attract native bees and butterflies during its long summer blooming period. This plant serves as a host for some specialized native insects.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
