Golden prairie-clover is a compact native perennial that forms neat, low mounds of fine-textured foliage. It produces cheerful golden-yellow flower spikes from June through August, creating bright color during the summer months. This drought-tolerant plant maintains a tidy appearance and works well in both formal and naturalistic landscapes.

In an HOA neighborhood

Golden Prairie-clover is an HOA-friendly choice. Maintenance level: low. Tidiness: 4 out of 5.

Works well in: front yard, foundation, street edge, mid zone.

  • Goes dormant in winter leaving bare stems

Wildlife value

The bright yellow flowers are magnets for native bees and butterflies throughout the summer blooming period. This plant is particularly valuable for supporting smaller native bee species that prefer the clustered flower structure.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
