Groovestem Indian plantain is a tall native perennial with large, broad leaves and clusters of small white flowers that bloom through summer. This woodland edge plant forms upright clumps and works well in naturalized areas or mixed perennial borders.

In an HOA neighborhood

Groovestem Indian Plantain takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very tall growth habit appears uncontrolled
  • Can look weedy when dormant
  • Large size may appear unkempt to neighbors

Wildlife value

The summer flowers attract bees, butterflies, and beetles for nectar. The seeds provide food for birds in fall.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
