Works well in: backyard only.

  • Name contains 'goldenrod' which triggers allergy concerns
  • Can appear weedy or wild to traditional landscaping preferences
  • Dies back completely in winter leaving bare spots

Wildlife value

The flowers attract numerous pollinators including native bees, butterflies, and beneficial beetles. It serves as a host plant for some butterfly caterpillars and provides late-season nectar when few other plants are blooming.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
