Bidens connata is a native wildflower that produces small yellow flowers from summer through fall. This upright plant grows in clumps and thrives in moist to wet soils with full sun exposure. It naturally occurs in wetland edges and marshy areas.

In an HOA neighborhood

London Bur-Marigold takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Strongly weedy appearance
  • Can spread aggressively in moist conditions
  • Dies back completely as annual

Wildlife value

The long blooming period provides nectar for bees, butterflies, and beetles from midsummer through October. Seeds also provide food for birds and small wildlife.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
