White-edge sedge is a graceful native grass with arching, narrow leaves that forms small clumps in partially shaded areas. This delicate sedge produces inconspicuous flowers in late spring and early summer, adding subtle texture to woodland gardens and shaded borders.

In an HOA neighborhood

White Edge Sedge is an HOA-friendly choice. Maintenance level: low. Tidiness: 3 out of 5.

Works well in: foundation, mid zone, backyard only.

  • May be unfamiliar to HOAs as ornamental grass
  • Can look sparse in winter months

Wildlife value

This sedge provides nesting material and seeds for birds, while its foliage offers shelter for small wildlife. Though not a major pollinator plant, it supports the overall ecosystem as part of native plant communities.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
