Fall boneset is a tall native perennial that produces clusters of small white flowers from summer through fall. It forms upright clumps and can spread gradually to create colonies, making it useful for naturalizing larger areas.

In an HOA neighborhood

Fall Boneset takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Can appear weedy and unkempt
  • Spreads aggressively and may look wild
  • Very tall growth may seem unmaintained

Wildlife value

This plant is excellent for late-season pollinators, attracting bees, butterflies, beetles, wasps, and flies when many other flowers have finished blooming. It's particularly valuable for migrating monarch butterflies in fall.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
