Spring forget-me-not is a delicate annual wildflower that produces clusters of tiny blue flowers from April through June. This compact native plant grows 6-12 inches tall and spreads 4-8 inches wide, preferring partial sun and moderate moisture. It completes its life cycle in one growing season, often self-seeding for the following year.

In an HOA neighborhood

Spring Forget-me-not takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Annual lifecycle creates bare spots by midsummer
  • Small size and wild appearance look weedy in formal settings
  • Unpredictable germination and establishment

Wildlife value

The small blue flowers attract native bees and beetles during the spring blooming period. As an early-season bloomer, it provides nectar when few other flowers are available.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
