Clearweed is a small native annual that forms low patches in shaded areas. It has delicate green foliage and produces inconspicuous greenish flowers in late summer. This plant thrives in moist, partially shaded locations and naturally self-seeds.
In an HOA neighborhood
Clearweed takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.
Works well in: backyard only.
- Very weedy appearance
- Dies back completely as annual
- Can spread aggressively by self-seeding
Wildlife value
The small flowers attract bees and flies during summer blooming. As an annual, it provides seasonal habitat and food sources for pollinators in shaded garden areas.
