Spring Beauty is a delicate wildflower that produces small white or pink flowers with darker pink veins from March through May. This low-growing native perennial emerges early in spring and goes dormant by summer, making it ideal for naturalizing under trees or in woodland gardens.

In an HOA neighborhood

Springbeauty takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Goes completely dormant and disappears by summer
  • Very small and can appear sparse or weedy
  • Best suited for naturalized woodland areas rather than formal landscapes

Wildlife value

The early spring blooms provide crucial nectar for emerging bees, flies, and beetles when few other flowers are available. Native bees particularly benefit from this early season food source.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
