Samolus parviflorus is a small native perennial that forms neat, low mounds of green foliage. It produces delicate white flowers from June through August and thrives in moist, partially shaded locations.

In an HOA neighborhood

Seaside Brookweed takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: high. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Requires consistently high moisture which can be challenging to maintain
  • Uncommon plant that HOAs may not recognize as intentional landscaping
  • May go dormant or decline if water needs aren't met

Wildlife value

This plant attracts bees and flies during its summer blooming period. Its compact size makes it a good nectar source for smaller pollinators.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
